South Africa’s mining magnate Patrice Motsepe says government and unions need to work together to preserve jobs and the mining sector.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the Motsepe Foundation’S Meeting with traditional leaders, to donate 50 million rand for rural development initiatives. South African mines are going through a crisis that could have devastating effects on the economy as the whole.
Mining companies have already issued eleven-thousand retrenchment notices to employees, a move that has been slammmed by unions. Earlier I spoke to Motsepe about his views on the prevailing situation and this is what he had to say.
